Agbobly, founded by Togolese designer Jacques Agbobly, started with made-to-order knitwear and has since expanded to ready-to-wear. The brand blends Western fashion with African culture, emphasizing handcrafted luxury through hand-knits, beadwork, and vibrant colors.

AKT LONDON

Founded by Ed Currie and Andy Coxon, AKT (pronounced “act”) launched its Deodorant Balm in 2020 with rave reviews and awards from Vogue, GQ, Esquire, and Harper’s Bazaar. Plastic-free, aluminum-free, and gender-free, the formula instantly resonated with those looking for a natural deodorant that works and is quickly becoming a household name.

Christopher John Rogers

Christopher John Rogers’ love of art and design began at an early age, equally sparked by his love of anime and comic books, Paul Gauguin and Pablo Picasso. Elena Velez

Of Puerto Rican heritage but raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Elena Velez’s work is known for its non-traditional synthesis of metalwork and high fashion. Velez is the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s 2022 Emerging Designer of the Year, a 2022 Vogue Fashion Fund Winner, one of Elle Magazine’s 2023 Women of Impact, and recipient of the Fashion Trust U.S. Sustainability Award.

Ella Emhoff

Ella Emhoff is a multidisciplinary artist and creator who founded her company Soft Hands, Inc. in 2021 to explore opportunities in fashion, design, creative consulting and hosting events. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Ella explores textiles through knitting, designing knitwear, creating installations for brands, and upcycling donated materials.

HEAD OF STATE

Founded in 2016 by Taofeek Abijako, HEAD OF STATE is a representation of postcolonial youth culture today. It operates as both an homage to this diverse space and a dissection along with critique of the effects western imposition has had on it. HOS thrives on this unique intersectionality, aiming to provoke a dialogue about the past, current, and future state of marginalized spaces.

Savvy and contemporary, the HommeGirls wardrobe offers coy takes on menswear classics with an emphasis on tailoring. The HG core collection serves as the foundation, with capsule collections introduced seasonally that expand on the HommeGirls vocabulary with playful takes on the tension between masculine and feminine.

Jonathan Cohen

With parents from Mexico and a San Diego upbringing, Jonathan Cohen was a product of the cultural heritage he was exposed to growing up. Launched in 2011, the Jonathan Cohen brand is an amalgamation Mexican patterns and colors, the laid-back ease of San Diego surf culture, and a modern city approach.

KidSuper

Developed by Colm Dillane, KidSuper is a creative collective based out of Brooklyn, NY with ventures in clothing, art, film, music, and more. Among his many accolades, KidSuper is the 2021 recipient of the special Karl Lagerfeld Prize at the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers, winner of the 2022 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, and was nominated for a 2023 CFDA Menswear of the Year Award.

LUAR

LUAR is the reversed namesake label of Brooklyn, NY-based designer Raul Lopez. LUAR won the CFDA Award for American Accessories Designer of the Year in 2022 and was named Brand of the Year at the 2023 Latin American Fashion Awards. LUAR has been worn and supported by the likes of Beyoncé Knowles, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid, and more.

MARC JACOBS

In 1984, Marc Jacobs designed his first collection with the Marc Jacobs label and received the distinct honor of being the youngest designer ever to be awarded the fashion industry’s highest tribute: The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. MARIA McMANUS

Maria McManus was born in Dublin, Ireland and has lived in Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Australia before finally settling in New York City. During her many years working in the fashion industry, Maria grew increasingly alarmed at fashion’s detrimental impact on the environment. In 2020, she started Maria McManus: an eponymous collection of meticulously designed clothing, created with the lowest environmental impact.

Melitta Baumeister

Marked by oversized silhouettes, innovative materials, and unusual shapes, Melitta Baumeister is making her mark on the fashion industry through sculptural designs. After honing her craft at Parsons, she landed a spot in the VFILES New York Fashion Week show. The standout collection caught the eye of influential industry people, including Mel Ottenberg, who put one of her coats on Rihanna. Soon after, the collection landed at at Dover Street Market – and she’s been steadily building her brand since.

Peter Do

Born in Vietnam, Peter Do immigrated to the suburbs of Philadelphia at the age of 14. He studied Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and received the first 2014 LVMH Graduate Prize. In 2018, he launched his own eponymous brand, Peter Do, and in May 2023, Do was appointed Creative Director of Helmut Lang.

Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler is a New York-based womenswear and accessories brand founded in 2002 by designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. Named after the designers’ mothers’ maiden names, the collection was bought in its entirety by Barneys New York. Rachel Comey

Rachel Comey is an American fashion designer and creator of the eponymous New York-based label. The brand, which started as menswear, grew out of the downtown arts scene of New York in the early 2000s. To further support future creatives, Hourglass is partnering with the CFDA by donating to its scholarship fund for rising talent and integrating them into the store, continuing Barneys New York’s legacy of discovering and giving designers a platform.

Each designer highlighted in our Creatives section is providing a special curation of merchandise for the Hourglass & Barneys New York pop-up store. Please see our Events section for details on individual designer experiences.

Returns of purchases made at the pop-up can be returned at the pop-up for the duration of the store, from September 5-October 11, 2024.

We are unable to accept returns for any items purchased online at our pop-up store. Please refer to the Hourglasscosmetics.com Shipping and Returns FAQ for more information.
